About this course

This comprehensive training program not only covers the practical aspects of making drums and how to teach it, but also delves into aspects of creating and holding sacred space, ceremony, and facilitating a safe and nurturing environment where participants can fully immerse themselves in the drum birthing process.

• Master the art of birthing Shamanic Drums from start to finish

• Develop your skills in creating and holding sacred space and ceremony, allowing you to create a safe and nurturing environment for your participants

• Create and develop your own workshop for groups or one-to-one, tailored to your unique style and approach

• Dive into the rich history and uses of Shamanic Drums, and gain a deeper understanding of the spiritual significance of this ancient practice

• Develop the skills to guide a Shamanic Journey for a group, and learn how to facilitate sharing circles and other group activities

• Immerse yourself in the drum birthing process by birthing 3 Shamanic Drums over the duration of the course, allowing you to gain valuable experience and expertise

By enrolling in this course, you will learn the skills necessary to support individuals in birthing their own drum while also gaining a deeper understanding of the spiritual and personal significance of the drum birthing experience. This course is an opportunity for personal growth, as well as a chance to support others in their own personal journey.

Dates and Location

This course is held at the Clophill Centre, Bedfordshire, a centre dedicated to the sharing of sacred traditions.

The course runs over three in-person training sessions, which take place on:

• 11th-12th November 2023

• 17th-18th February 2024

• 25th-26th May 2024

In addition to these training weekends, there will be:

• Online sessions to support case studies and assignments will take place between workshop weekends.

• Opportunity to join Jonathan at the Heron Drums HQ, near Canterbury (by arrangement).

Course Fee

This Drum Birthing Facilitator Training Course will cost in £1600, including all necessary materials and expert instruction.

For those who are ready to commit to their journey, we offer an exciting 25% early-bird discount (total training cost £1200) to those who pay in full by July 31, 2023. This incredible discount will be automatically applied at checkout, making it easier than ever to embark on this transformative experience.

We also offer the option to pay in installments through our website, spreading the payment over 5 monthly installments of £320.

Prior Learning and Experience

As you’ll be training to support others through the process of drum birthing, we require that you have prior experience birthing your own drum. This will enable you to draw upon your personal experience during the training as you develop your own workshop.

Additionally, we highly encourage applicants to have familiarity and personal experience with shamanic journeying techniques.

Case Studies and Assessments

The assessment for this course will occur throughout the in-person weekend training, where you will be evaluated based on your practical work and group facilitation skills. In addition to these evaluations, we will also review your performance through case studies and reflective essays.

This comprehensive approach will allow us to assess your progress and understanding of the concepts and skills covered in the training, while also providing you with opportunities to reflect on your personal growth and development, to be better able to support others starting their drum journey.

Booking Conditions

1. Availability and Payment: All places advertised for the course are subject to availability, and your place will be secured upon receipt of payment. Having your application accepted is not enough to secure your place.

2. Deposits: Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. They are required to reserve your place in the course and contribute towards course preparation and administration costs. Deposits must be received within 4 weeks of accepting a place on the course.

3. Full Payment or Installment Plan: Full payment must be made no later than 6 weeks before the course start date. Alternatively, if you opt for the installment plan, it must be started no later than 6 weeks before the course start date.

4. Cancellation of Booking: Should you be forced to cancel, you must confirm this in writing or by email. Cancellation of your place on the workshop is not effective until this has been received. There will be no refunds on cancellations made less than 3 weeks before the course start date. If you need to cancel during the course, we will do our best to explore options for transferring your enrollment to a future course, although this is not guaranteed.

5. Course Cancellation: In the unlikely event of us (Heron Drums) having to cancel the course, we will arrange to refund any money you have paid for an advance booking or offer the option to transfer your place to another workshop. If we have to reschedule a weekend, we will do what we can to accommodate availability, but we reserve the right to reschedule dates if needed in exceptional circumstances.

6. Insurance: It is your responsibility to ensure that you have adequate travel insurance to cover any travel or accommodation arrangements for your booking. Heron Drums does not provide insurance coverage and will not be liable for any expenses incurred due to unforeseen circumstances or cancellations.
