Sacred Stones: Honouring the Ancient Ones beneath our feet

We are excited to launch this Special Collection of Shamanic Drums, birthed in ceremony and finished with stones and crystals from this Sacred Land.

Connecting with the land

Working with stones from this land helps us connect with the spirit and energy of these isles - each piece embodying part of the spirit and magic of these sacred landscapes.

For many of us on earth-centered spiritual paths our spiritual practice is about connecting with the land we are on, and so, at Heron Drums, we wanted to create a collection so that you can work with stones from these isles.

The rocks which surround us are part of our story and that of our ancestors. These stones vibrate with the ancient memories of this land; an energy which has touched all generations that have lived here in times gone by. Over the centuries, however, we have become more and more disconnected with the land,

Just as people have commonly sought spiritual wisdom from far off lands and missed the wisdom within this land, we also tend to reach for attractive and exotic stones from far away. We would like to see a collective re-connection with the land beneath our feet.

Stones and sustainability

Most often, the discussions around the ethicality and sustainability of Shamanic Drums revolve around the hides of the animals. An important aspect which gets forgotten about is the stones and crystals used.

While many people work with stones and crystals within their spiritual practice, there is a growing awareness of the impact of their sourcing and manufacture, including the environmental damage and human rights violations that are linked with their mining in countries without sufficient protections and regulations such as Myanmar, Democratic Republic of Congo and Afghanistan (see here and here).

While Heron Drums has endeavored over the years to buy the stones we use solely from ethical and sustainable reputable sources, it is unfortunately not possible to track the ethicality and sustainability for many of the stones. With the stones and crystal that are part of this collection, which includes stones that we have gathered ourselves, we can be confident that they are responsibly and sustainably sourced.

With this Special Collection, we hope to help us all connect with the land that we are on, or the land of our ancestors, with the stones bound into the Shamanic Drums, embodying the spirit and magic of the sacred landscapes they come from.

We hope you enjoy this Special Collection as it is revealed throughout this week.

We invite you to join us on this Journey as we launch this vision at Imbolc. May these Drums sing strongly across this land, carrying their healing and medicine. As well as being strong allies to their keepers, may they help the collective re-connection to this sacred land we live on.
